Sound Forge 8.0 from Sonic Foundry is a professional recording and audio processing software package designed for professionals and amateurs alike. Sound Forge allows audio recording in Stereo at up to 64 bit resolution and 192 Kilohertz from any source you like depending on the capabilities of your sound card. Once the audio is recorded Sound Forge offers a full suite of audio processing tools. You can cut, copy, paste, mix, add: reverb, echo, chorus, flange, resample, pitch shift, speed up, slow down, invert, reverse, normalize, filter and perform dozens of other operations, all of which are user definable. When you're finished creating your "Audio Masterpiece" you can save it in any of several file formats including: WAV, MP3, and Vorbis, on your computer or on CD's ready to play on your home stereo system or in the car.

Do you own an earlier version of Sound Forge than 8.0? You can upgrade it to version 8.0 for $149.00. Sound Forge 8.0 offers instantaneous Delete, Cut, Copy, and Paste editing through nondestructive editing, real time scrubbing (fast forward and rewind), the ability to work on several audio files simultaneously, support for files as large as your storage capability allows through NTFS under Windows 2000 and XP, Vinyl restoration utility, professional Red Book Audio CD Mastering through CD Architect and a wealth of other enhancements over earlier versions. Just go to the Sonic Foundry Web Site or call 1-800-577-6642. Some people have called me for the upgrade but I'm sorry, I can't do it. For United States customers it has to be done through Sony Pictures Digital directly. For people in other countries it can be done through Sony Pictures Digital or your local Sound Forge dealer. The upgrade is typically a download but if you need to have it on a CD then Sony Pictures Digital will charge for the shipping but their shipping is very expensive. The Noise Reduction part of the upgrade is not available on CD at all. It's much better to download the upgrades and put them on a CD yourself or have your friend with the higher connection speed do it for you. I'll do it for you at my cost, typically $6 to the UK for example.
